MLETA Police Training

Michigan Law Enforcement Training Associates (MLETA) is the training arm of Michigan Police Legal Advisor Group. It was created to provide the best legal training in Michigan, not only based on content but also the quality of the experience. Known for its “All Day Buffet” and attention to attendee comfort and enjoyment, MLETA has grown to be Michigan’s premiere Police legal training organization. It started out with 17 attendees in Hamtramck and then to 48 attendees in Lowell and then to 158 attendees at Breslin Center at the campus of Michigan State University.

Prior to COVID the attendee count was capped at 125 per seminar. Once Covid hit, MLETA paused. It was during that pause that we updated the base and created a new set of training opportunities. We now have department specific training, mini-clinics, small seminars and over-the-top, large seminars. Now, MLETA is back and ready to coach the current police professionals like they have never seen before.

Importantly, the Police Attorney group that works on these training seminars are all retired career police officers, licensed lawyers and have decades of both police and legal experience. They are not simply “cops with law degrees” where their teaching is based on philosophical experience. They understand and train police law from a practical perspective.

The MLETA Police Attorney crew members have experience as career police professionals and litigators that have represented police professionals in court in civil and criminal matters. Simply put, there is no group of Michigan lawyers that can compete with the joint police and legal experience of the MLETA team.
